A series of works composed for AUTOMATA's Experimental Sound series, TAPETAIL in Chinatown, Los Angeles. The program notes are provided below.
One piece uses haze, projection, and spatialized sound to create a multistable equilibrium. The piece creates an expected synchronicity between light and sound; as the piece progresses the elements take on their own behavior and the pairing breaks down. Throughout the piece balance shifts and the equilibrium of the space is drawn to multiple points.
Another piece uses bricks, piano wire, and metal plates to create an unstable sound world. Several brick towers bear the responsibility of maintaining their sound world; each tower moments from collapse. Gravity maintains the piece and the behavior of an action-oriented performer stresses the system.
