An interactive piano made for The Real Unreal (Meow Wolf) exhibition in Grapevine, TX.
I designed and programmed the experience alongside Chris Beran. To match the aesthetic of the diffused lighting panels we opted for a "soft piano" sound; a soft piano has felt or some other soft material between the hammers and the strings which dulls the piano strikes.
We developed a custom particle system between Max/MSP and TouchDesigner that generates the fading notes in the light panels. Chris Beran developed the color palettes that rotate in the space. The video attached shows me improvising and cycling through the various palettes.
The diffused lighting scheme was designed by Chris Werner Design and integrated by Vincent Lighting Systems.
