During February of 2026 I set a daily practice. Everyday I would aim to produce a small audio visual sketch using Max/MSP and a fluid simulation openFrameworks project that I've been working with over the years.
This is a weird one; this work was created just before AI got really good - it's scary. This project is all organic code, human code, whatever you want to call it, but I don't really say that with a sense of pride.
I expect to see an explosion of creative coding projects over the next year and I'm at a standstill with my personal work. I'm focusing more on my cello and playing with friends; at least until the dust settles. We're moving too fast and I want to slow down. At least I can shrink my own world.
Anyway, at the start of the month I was creating sound that didn't have any messaging between the audio and video. Here's one from the 3rd.
It's actually quite nice - it might be my favorite of the bunch; it's calm, pixelated, there's space.
Here's one from the 4th; it's dark and slow - nice enough.
And here's one from the 5th; something about the blur gives the impression that the circle is a sphere. It's not, but you can't tell the difference.

And then for some reason I stopped generating visuals and focused on the sound. While making sound for these videos I was experimenting with some Just Intonation programming. The frequencies of and even the synthesis of the tones in the videos are all tied to a non-equal tempered system.
Some days later I made this Max/MSP patch; which eventually led to a few other pieces later in the year.
I made a few works after this, maybe I stretched toward the 20th, but this was really what I wanted to achieve. It was a short sprint to create a bunch of ideas until I landed on something I could loop for hours. I've listened to this quite a lot; maybe I should put it on bandcamp.
